Wizard Miners! A fun, fast-paced, board game with wizards!

Created by Anthony Petruzzelli

A race to the treasure beneath the mountain requires a great mining company! Why not one run by a WIZARD? 2-4 players of any age! Wizard Miners is a fast paced, simultaneous play, card driven board game. The rules are easy to learn, but different strategies and the luck of the dice change the game every time! Loved at Gen Con and other conventions for the past few years - order yours now! Visit petrogaminggroup.com for more info on the game!

Latest Updates from Our Project:

WIZARD MINERS HAS ARRIVED!
about 1 year ago – Thu, Apr 03, 2025 at 03:18:43 PM

What an incredibly long, interesting, exhilarating, and sometimes very frustrating journey it has been publishing our first game.  But....

That is Wizard Miners in the warehouse in Pitman, NJ!

That is a bunch of games getting staged for shipping and going to MepaCon!

Incredibly exciting and it makes me want to thank you all over again.  The "original" rule book for Wizard Miners is a file dated in 2014.  The first time it was played at a convention was 2017 (Gen Con, and my first backer JT!!). If you want to publish a game, don't get discouraged! It doesn't take THAT long!  But that was the journey of Wizard Miners.

So, WHAT'S NEXT??  I started getting shipping labels ready today and will ship as soon as possible.  Both exciting and "are you kidding me?"  - They arrived today, hours before our next convention.  Petro Gaming Group will be at MepaCon in Allentown PA this weekend, so come on by if you can!

Those that are getting games shipped - they will start going out first thing next week.  USA backers - You should have your game arriving at your door the week of the 14th.  International backers should get them soon after.

Those that are picking up games at local game stores - I have contacted all the stores and will be delivering them to the stores by the end of the day on the next day they are open after Sunday.  Check your store for hours - some are closed on Monday or Tuesday.  I will send out an email to you when the game has landed at your store!

If you are coming to MepaCon, come by the booth and pick up your game!  We will have it ready for you!

Again, I am so grateful for your support.  Please spread the word that Wizard Miners is available and that Petro Gaming Group has new games coming!  Check them out at petrogaminggroup.com!  (Another update, we are redesigning our website and it currently looks horrible on a phone...don't judge too harshly. It looks much better on a computer and both will look GREAT when I can get back to it - after everyone has their game on its way!)

You are only days away from digging, drilling, and blasting your way to victory!!!!

Excitement! And then more waiting...
about 1 year ago – Mon, Mar 24, 2025 at 08:46:55 AM

Good news and more good news!  Wizard Miners has reached the United States and has been unloaded from the ship that took it on its 10,000 plus mile voyage.  It was fun to watch the ship travel (as a dot on a map) over the Pacific and through the Panama Canal.  SOOO many little dots out there!  Last week, the picture looked like this - with the purple arrow pointing toward our ship!

So, arrival into the port of NY/NJ was very exciting and the ship officially arrived on Sunday, March 16.  That is where the excitement ended, however, as the container has been offloaded from the ship, but I have had no new updates for 8 days now.  Still awaiting customs clearance.

Let's end this part of the update on a high note - our warehouse is only about 90 minutes from the NY/NJ port.  So good news may come very fast once it starts again.  Clearing customs, loaded on a truck, arriving at the warehouse could all happen in a span of hours.  I will keep you posted!  We are VERY confident that we will be meeting our April 2025 shipping promise!

In other news, we will be at MepaCon near Allentown PA on April 4-6.  We will be playing Wizard Miners all weekend!  Still hoping just a little that we will have games to sell at our booth. But what we WILL be doing for sure is playing our next two games - First Impressions and Party Panic!  First Impressions is in production, so come check it out for sure.  Party Panic! will be game #3 for us and is a couple of months behind First Impressions, but it is ready for it's MepaCon debut!  Hope to see you there!!

Updates! Mixed good and bad news...
about 1 year ago – Thu, Feb 06, 2025 at 08:45:33 AM

Good Morning!  There are a few updates to share on the progress of Wizard Miners.  Let's start with the good news. PRODUCTION IS COMPLETE! Wizard Miners is on a ship, on it's way to our warehouse in New Jersey!

See that circle off the south coast of South Korea?  That's us!  (That's also an insane number of ships...)

Next stop - the Panama Canal!

More good news...we will definitely make the promised April shipping time! Everyone should have their copy of Wizard Miners in April!

The bad news is  - I really thought it was going to be early.  The promised ship date of January 20 turned into January 31 and Finally February 2.  I am glad it is on the open sea, so hopefully no more delays until we get to ports.  I have no idea what happens when it gets to the canal, so keep your fingers crossed.  I know that "not being early" is not really bad news, but being a little early would have allowed us to have games available at MepaCon in eastern PA on the first weekend in April.  That seemed really likely and now seems really REALLY unlikely.  So, I am bummed about that.

Back to good news!  Petro Gaming Group is gearing up to launch our next TWO games in 2025!  Both games are fun, fast paced, card games that take an hour or less.  Neither have crazy components like Wizard Miners to slow down production!!!!

Meeting your partner's family? Going on a first date? Looking for that new job? You must make a good First Impression! First Impressions is a fast paced, trick taking card game of quick perceptions!  It is a trick-taking game for 2-5 players.  It's all about making the best first impression! The game lasts five rounds.  Each round, every player gets a minimum of 9 "attribute" cards.  These cards represent qualities that someone may quickly see about you.  Each round there will be 3 tricks to bid on - the tricks represent others who are impressed by different things.  Some see money and living space; some see the car you drive or the pet you own. Some may look for little; some for alot!  Strategically split your attributes into three hands of three and try to win as many tricks as you can in five rounds!

The great warriors reach the final dungeon level and encounter...An EARTHQUAKE?! Time to PANIC! The only way out is FORWARD! Party Panic! is a fast-paced, hectic, hack-and-slash cooperative card game for 3-5 players. In Party Panic!, you must escape the dungeon before it collapses! Players cooperatively battle monsters using a random hand of 6 attack/defense cards. The cards represent sword, arrow, and fireball attacks as well as shields to defend and hearts to heal. Each player plays a card in turn and consecutive card plays multiply their power. No strategy talk allowed during battle—only moans, groans, and exclamations! Each turn the "party leader" declares if the party is "pressing on" or "retreating to rest".  Play cards quickly against the timer, tally damage, and defeat monsters. Hurry, more monsters await, and the dungeon is caving in!

We at Petro Gaming Group have learned so much about the nuts and bolts of game manufacturing, production, and shipping during the Wizard Miners campaign.  It has been an exciting and sometimes frustrating ride.  We appreciate you so much for your support and patience!  Stay tuned for more updates and more exciting news about upcoming projects!

Production Updates!
over 1 year ago – Mon, Dec 16, 2024 at 08:50:27 AM

I apologize for the lack of updates, but I want to respect your inbox and only send information when it really is interesting.  Well, we have some today!  First the best news - Wizard Miners is in full production as we speak and will be ready to leave the manufacturer in less than a month!  We have a cargo ready date of January 15th and a freight company ready to take it from there to our warehouse in New Jersey.  All looks good for an early April arrival!

Next! Check out the final production samples...

Base Game - Note that there is room inside for any components that you add on at a later date - the player boards, the coin turn token, and the starting Wizard Meeples will all fit in the base game box

Deluxe Game - Coin Turn token, embroidered bags, Treasure Chest constructibles, Wizard Meeples, and Player Boards all fit nicely in the box.

Treasure Chests!  The four constructible Chests come in the box and have a section in the box to fit nicely when constructed.  Look how great they look built!  Don't worry, there will be a "how to build" video available for you.

Surveys ALMOST complete!  We have had over 85% of the surveys returned, so if you haven't done your survey to provide your shipping method and address, please do so now!  We will be charging shipping costs (unless you have local pickup selected) and charging for any add-ons in the next few weeks.  Thank you for filling out the surveys!

If you made it to the bottom of this update, thank you.  I want again to say how much I appreciate your support of this passion project of mine.   It is so hard to imagine that it is so close to a reality.  THANK YOU!

Surveys coming out today! Shipping and Local pickup option FAQ!
over 1 year ago – Mon, Nov 11, 2024 at 11:50:36 AM

Surveys are coming out to the rest of the backers today!  If you were part of the "test run", THANK YOU! It was very helpful.  Please be on the lookout for your survey as it collects shipping information and gives you options for upgrades and add-ons!  Check them out!

If you are going to choose one of the local pickup options to avoid shipping charges, please read! There are a couple of places where it asks you, using a drop down box, to select your country. Look for this, especially on the page where it asks for shipping address. Pick Local Pickup. It will still want something in the address fields (it suggests N/A for local pickup), but as long as you have Local Pickup selected in the country field, you will be good! Shipping should go to zero when you move to the last page. Let me know if you have any issues!

Final production samples arrive today!!  Be on the lookout for another update this week with pictures of the final game!
